[Guadalajara, Jal. January 11, 2021] The Rhizome Center for Migrants (www.rhizomecenter.org) is excited to announce our newest team member, César Miguel Rivera Vega Magallón.

César joins the organization as our Mexico Advocacy Fellow. As a formerly undocumented immigrant rights advocate in California, he worked on various campaigns, including #Not1More, the implementation of drivers licenses for the undocumented community, and reform of electoral laws to grant political opportunities to inland California’s Latinx and Black communities. After 10 years of organizing in the United States, he is eager to support positive change in Mexico.

Through the combined administrations of President Trump and President Obama, we have endured 12 years of mass deportations and border apprehensions. The needs of returning and repatriated immigrants have never been greater. We are thrilled that César is joining us now and look forward to utilizing and developing his skills for the benefit of the deported and returned communities in Western Mexico.

For those who have been following German's story, he is finally on his way to obtaining his first official government ID in 🇲🇽 —10 months after he was forced to leave the U.S. For the most vulnerable, the road to documentation is a winding road full of obstacles, but also moments of hope. We thank all state civil registry offices and civil servants who have showed German heart in this arduous journey from undocumented to documented, after deportation. Now that German is recognized as a Mexican citizen, his wife can begin her long-awaited immigration process in Mexico.📞 Si fuiste deportado y no recibiste tu acta de nacimiento por el programa, México Te Abraza, contáctanos por Whatsapp: +52 33 2182 0836
