Mexico’s 2011 Migration Law established a human-rights framework, including recognition that people in irregular status are still rights-holders and that humanitarian aid should not be criminalized.Javier showed just how powerful that framework is: under Mexico’s Constitution, fundamental rights belong to people, not only citizens. Today, about 40 families and individuals remain across El Refugio’s specialized shelters, working to rebuild their lives in an often-hostile environment while navigating lives that stretch across multiple borders.As part of our immigration program, we make a biannual donation to @elrefugiogdl and DIF Guadalajara. This year, we donated 360 eggs—about a month’s supply—to El Refugio.
